Somebody in your group chat just posted a code like 7XK2QM with a fire emoji under it. Everyone is replying "loaded". You open your betting app and have no idea where that code is supposed to go. This guide fixes that, for every major bookmaker, in about thirty seconds of reading per book.
We will cover what a booking code is, where to type it on SportyBet, Bet9ja, 1xBet, BetKing and the rest, the five reasons a code refuses to load, and the one situation no bookmaker can help you with: a code that was made on a different site.
What a booking code actually does
A booking code (also called a bet code, share code or booking number) is a short reference to a list of selections saved on a bookmaker's system. When you load it, the bookmaker fills your betslip with exactly those games, markets and picks. You still choose the stake and you still place the bet yourself. The code only saves you the typing.
Two things follow from that, and they explain almost every problem people run into:
- A code belongs to one bookmaker. A SportyBet code is a pointer into SportyBet's system. Bet9ja has never heard of it.
- A code points at live markets. If a game has started, been postponed or had its market pulled, that part of the code can no longer be loaded.
Keep those two in mind and the rest of this guide is mostly about knowing where each app hides the code box.
How to load a booking code on SportyBet
- Open the SportyBet app or website and sign in.
- Tap the Betslip at the bottom of the screen. With an empty slip you will see a box asking for a booking code.
- Type the code exactly as you received it. Codes are not case sensitive on most books, but extra spaces can break them, so paste carefully.
- Tap Load. The games appear on your betslip with today's odds.
- Check the selections and the total odds, enter your stake and place the bet.
If your slip already has games on it, clear it first or the loaded games will be added to what is already there.
How to load a booking code on Bet9ja
- Open Bet9ja and sign in.
- Open the Betslip. Bet9ja shows a field for a booking code at the top of an empty slip.
- Enter the code and tap Load.
- Bet9ja lists the selections. Review them, add your stake and place the bet.
Copy and paste beats typing every time. One wrong character and Bet9ja will tell you the code does not exist.
How to load a booking code on 1xBet
- Open 1xBet (or any of its sister brands such as Melbet, Betwinner, Paripesa, Megapari, Helabet or 22Bet).
- Go to the Bet slip. Look for the option to load or upload events by code.
- Enter the code and confirm.
- The events land on your coupon. Check them, stake and place.
The 1xBet family shares a lot of technology, but a code made on 1xBet does not automatically load on Melbet or Paripesa. Each brand keeps its own coupons.
How to load a booking code on BetKing, MSport and other books
The pattern is the same everywhere: open the betslip, find the booking code box, paste, load. BetKing, MSport, Betway, Football.com, Betpawa and the rest all put the box on the betslip, usually visible only when the slip is empty. If you cannot see it, clear your slip and look again.

Why a booking code will not load: the five usual reasons
1. The code is from a different bookmaker
This is the number one reason by a distance. The tipster used SportyBet; you are typing it into Bet9ja. The bookmaker says "invalid code" because, from its point of view, the code does not exist. Nothing is wrong with the code or with your app. Jump to the next section for the fix.
2. A game on the code has already started
Booking codes are for pre-match bets. Once a game kicks off, most bookmakers either drop it from the loaded slip or refuse to load the code. Codes posted in the morning for an evening slate are fine; codes posted at 3pm for 3pm games are already dying.
3. A typo or a stray space
The letter O and the number 0 look identical in some fonts, and so do I, l and 1. Copying from WhatsApp sometimes brings a trailing space along. Paste, then check the last character.
4. The code has expired
Codes do not live forever. When the last game on a code is over, the code has nothing left to point at.
5. A market was suspended
Bookmakers pull markets when team news breaks or when a game is moved. The code may load with fewer games than the tipster posted. Always compare the number of games before you stake.
The fix for a code from the wrong bookmaker
You cannot load a SportyBet code on Bet9ja. You can, however, convert it. A bet code converter reads every selection on the original code, finds the same games and markets on your bookmaker, and creates a brand new booking code there. You then load that new code exactly as described above.
With Convat it takes three steps:
- Paste the code and pick the bookmaker it came from.
- Pick the bookmaker you actually use.
- Copy the new code and load it on your app.
Convat converts between 50+ sportsbooks, including SportyBet, Bet9ja, 1xBet, BetKing, MSport, Betway, 22Bet and Football.com, in either direction. If a game is genuinely not offered on your bookmaker, it tells you which one instead of quietly leaving it out. For the full walkthrough see how to convert a Bet9ja code to SportyBet.
Good habits before you stake a loaded code
- Count the games. If the tipster said 8 and you see 7, find out which one is missing before you play.
- Check the total odds. Prices move. A slip that was 12.4 odds this morning might be 10.8 now.
- Read the markets, not just the teams. "Over 1.5" and "Over 2.5" are very different bets that look alike at a glance.
- Stake what you can lose. A loaded code is someone else's opinion. Treat it as entertainment, not income. Our responsible use page has tools that help.
Frequently asked questions
Where do I enter a booking code on SportyBet?
Open the Betslip with no games on it. SportyBet shows a booking code box at the top. Paste the code and tap Load.
Can I use a SportyBet booking code on Bet9ja?
Not directly. Each bookmaker only recognises its own codes. Convert the SportyBet code to a Bet9ja code with a bet code converter such as Convat, then load the new code on Bet9ja.
Why does my booking code say invalid?
Usually because it was made on a different bookmaker. Other causes are a typo, a game that has already started, or a code whose games have all finished.
Do booking codes expire?
Yes. Games that have kicked off drop out of a code on most bookmakers, and once every game has started or finished the code stops loading altogether.
Does loading a booking code place the bet?
No. Loading only fills your betslip. You choose the stake and confirm the bet yourself.
